BYD Pakistan Plant Set to Begin Production by Mid-December

BYD's vehicle
manufacturing plant in Pakistan is expected to start operations by mid-December
2026, according to a Topline Securities research note published after Hub Power
Company's annual general meeting. The company's management is targeting initial
sales of 1,000 to 1,500 vehicles per month as production gradually ramps up.
Initial Production to
Rely on Imports
The October 20 report
stated that the plant will initially depend entirely on imported raw materials
and components. Over time, however, BYD plans to increase local sourcing, with
a long-term goal of obtaining up to 80% of production inputs from within
Pakistan. This shift is intended to improve cost competitiveness and reduce the
company's reliance on imports.

Model Lineup Expansion
Planned
Management indicated
that BYD intends to introduce additional vehicle models in Pakistan in phases.
The company will prioritize segments that offer the potential for significant
sales volumes.
BYD also sees a
promising opportunity in Pakistan's automotive market as younger buyers show a
growing willingness to change vehicles over shorter periods. This marks a shift
from the traditional ownership cycle of five to 10 years. According to
management, competitive pricing and product quality could help BYD gain ground
as it expands its presence in the country.

Partnership and
Market Entry
BYD entered Pakistan
through a partnership with Mega Motor Company, which is associated with Hub
Power Holdings. The collaboration began introducing the Chinese automaker's
new-energy vehicles to the local market in 2024, with customer deliveries of
its initial models starting in 2025. The local manufacturing project is
designed to support a transition from relying on imported vehicles toward
domestic production.
